Northampton Town's under 18s extended their lead at the top of the EFL Youth Alliance South East Division to eleven points after a 1-0 win over second placed Stevenage at Moulton College on Saturday.
Jack Daldy scored the only goal of the game in the first half, to leave coach Jon Brady very pleased.
"We were guilty of missing chances and we should have put the game to bed in the first half," he said.
"Our performance was very good and we were on top at half time, but we had to stand up to a real challenge in the second half and we had to show our character and strength to hold a very good Stevenage side at bay.
"This was a proper game, a really competitive fixture between the top two sides in the league and we are delighted we have managed to come out on top."
