Cobblers boss Keith Curle has demanded a higher level of performance from his players ahead the New Year's Day trip to Forest Green Rovers.
Northampton Town have only lost twice in 15 league games, but having drawn the last four games, Curle wants more from his team.
“I know there is more to come from these players, I see it in training but I need to see it more on matchday,” he said.
“In terms of the team’s development and progression we are still very much on page one.
“We need to be braver on the ball and our game understanding still needs to improve.
“We will progress but to do that the basics and the fundamentals need to be in place to give you that foundation.
“There are bits and pieces in the pipeline for January, there is no need for wholesale changes but we are still putting the jigsaw together.
“I want to improve players but ultimately if they don’t adhere to those fundamentals then we will change those players. There is a saying 'if you can’t change players, (in terms of how they go about things), then change players'."
