Cobblers boss Keith Curle is challenging his players to show greater consistency ahead of the Boxing Day visit of Swindon Town.
"We are still a bit inconsistent at the moment and we need to make sure we do the simple things right,” he said.
“I think we have a good team spirit and there is a camaraderie in the group but as I said after the game at Yeovil our understanding of roles and responsibilities needs to be better.
“My methods are slightly different and sometimes some players can take a little bit longer to adapt to that."
Curle also provided an update on the fitness of midfielders Matt Crooks and John-Joe O’Toole.
"Matt took a knock in the first half on Saturday and because of the time he’s been out we were a little bit cautious with him. He has a full bill of health though and should be fine for Swindon.
“John-Joe is injured, there is no conspiracy theory there he is just going through his rehab. He’s back out training on the grass and there is a steady progression.
“He has a foot injury and he won’t be free from pain for a while. He will be in discomfort but John-Joe is the sort of player who will play through that.
"He is a key member of the squad and as soon as he’s ready he will be back.”
