The Northampton Town under 18's beat Portsmouth 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon thanks to a Jack Daldy double.
Playing at Wellingborough's Dog & Duck pitch, the young Cobblers side now move into the next round of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup following this afternoon's victory.
Under 18's manager Jon Brady was delighted with both the result and performance:
"It's a fantastic result for us," he said.
"We weren't quite at full strength because we've had a couple of injuries but the boys that played were brilliant.
"We moved the ball around really well and played some great stuff. Without getting too carried away we're delighted with how we've started the season and I'll have some real selection problems when everyone is back fit!"
"I'd also like to thank Wellingborough for allowing us to play on their pitch this afternoon, the surface was like a carpet and that certainly helped our style of play."
