DEAN AUSTIN'S COLCHESTER UNITED REACTION

The views of the Cobblers boss

25 August 2018

Cobblers boss Dean Austin reflecting on Saturday’s 2-1 away win at Colchester, secured by goals from Matt Crooks and Billy Waters.

“It’s the best feeling in the world,” he said.

“The boys have shown today that they have got the character and the attitude, I think we’ve been unfortunate in previous games but today we managed to get over the line and we thoroughly deserved it.

“We’ve spoken about closing a game out, they had a couple of moments but every team is going to have that. I thought we defended fantastically and at the other end we looked like we could open them up and score more goals.

“I’m not one for sitting back; I want us to be at our best and to do that we need to be on the front foot.

“I was pleased with everything today, I praised the boys at half-time because we should have been in front but at the same time I felt we still had more in the tank, we just needed to show that ruthlessness.

“We’ve got a hard week in training coming up but we need to use this as a platform. The boys have got a couple of days off now but when they are back in on Tuesday they need to be ready.”
