DEAN AUSTIN REFLECTS ON THE VISIT FROM CAMBRIDGE UNITED

The views of the Cobblers boss

18 August 2018

Cobblers boss Dean Austin reflecting on the 2-2 draw with Cambridge United.

“I’m absolutely gutted but that’s football and it’s a cruel game sometimes,” he said.

“On the whole I felt we were fairly comfortable but we have got to learn how to close games out. We’ve got to be better, you can’t be having to score three goals at home to win a game and that’s the disappointment.

“We gave the ball away for their first goal, it’s a defensive error and their second is from the second phase of a set play.

“It’s a hard one to take right now but we have to dust ourselves down and there is a steely determination in the dressing room to put the record straight.

“It’s not going to be easy here but we feel that when we get that first win we are more than capable of going on a run.

“Anyone watching the team can’t say they are not enjoying it, we know football is about winning but we will win and we will enjoy it at the same time.”
