With one game of the season left to play, the Cobblers youth team are currently top of Merit League 2.
Second placed Leyton Orient and third placed Dagenham & Redbridge both have two games in hand, but the Cobblers are currently two points clear at the top of the table on the back of a seven match unbeaten run.
Saturday's 5-1 win at Newport County sent the Cobblers to the top of the table, and as Academy Manager Trevor Gould said, there is plenty to be pleased about.
"What is really encouraging, is that we have achieved these results with a very young side," he said.
"We said goodbye to a number of second year players who we were not retaining part way through this Merit Division campaign, and that has meant some first years and under 16 players have come into the side to gain experience.
"We have also been without Morgan Roberts and Sean Whaler for the last few weeks who have been with the first team squad and of course Jon Brady has been helping out the first team.
"We are excited about some of the players coming through and while results are not the be all and end all at this age, our performances this season have backed up our belief that we have some exciting players in the Northampton Town Academy."
