SUCCESS FOR E-SPORTS PLAYER LIAM AT INSOMNIA GAMING FESTIVAL

Two tournament wins for Liam over the Easter weekend

4 April 2018

Northampton Town’s very own e-sports player, Liam Merry (@NTFC_REAPERZz) had a successful Easter weekend at the recent Insomnia Gaming Festival i62.

Representing the club, Liam took part in the event held at the NEC in Birmingham. On the Friday and Saturday, he came a respectable third out of 64 competitors, before winning both the Sunday and Monday events.

Liam had to work his way out of a group stage before playing a ‘best of 3’ in the semi-final and final. He received a cash prize for his success and it stands him in good stead for upcoming tournaments.

“In terms of organisation and enjoyment, it’s definitely the best tournament that I’ve been involved with,” said Liam.

“All in all it was a good weekend. It took me a couple of days to adapt to the PlayStation as I normally play on the XBOX, but by Sunday and Monday I was hitting my stride and was delighted to win the tournament on both days.

“The hours spent practising feel worthwhile and I now can’t wait to get ready for the next one.

“Attention now turns to the FIFA Soccer School at Sixfields this week. It’s been a huge success so far and it’s been great to meet so many young supporters."
