3,735 supporters were in attendance at Sixfields on Sunday to see famous faces from the world of TV, music, sport and showbiz take part in a charity game in support of Niamh's Next Step.
Dean Gaffney opened the scoring in the third minute for Team Carr making the most of a defensive mistake, while Shayne Ward missed a chance to level when he saw his 13th minute penalty saved by Gavin Ramjuan. Team Ward, Katona and Price did equalise on 20 minutes through Matt Lapinskas, while eleven minutes later Dan Osborne fired Team Ward, Katona and Price into a 2-1 lead with a fine 25 yard strike.
With the game approaching half time, Mc Harvey made the score 2-2 with a close range finish but before the half time whistle there was time for Dan Osborne to restore the lead for Team Ward, Katona and Price with a fine header.
MC Harvey dragged Team Carr level with a low finish for his second goal of the afternoon on 62 minutes, before Team Ward, Katona and Price were back in front on 73 minutes through Love Island's Alex Beattie.
They extended their lead to 5-3 with four minutes to play before Team Carr were awarded a penalty. Manager Alan Carr brought himself on to take the penalty but sent his shot wide. The referee spotted some encroachment and ordered a re-take but this time Carr's penalty was saved to loud boos from the crowd.
That rounded off a very successful afternoon of fundraising to fight childhood cancer, thank you to all who came along.
Even if you were not at the game, you can still text CARR11 £5 to 70070 to support Niamh's Next Step.
