Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink saw plenty to be encouraged about as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic.
“We did really well for the majority of the game to close Wigan down and the one time we didn’t they scored with a shot from distance,” he said.
“That was unfortunate but I thought it was a very good display from us. At times we can be calmer instead of panicking a little bit but that will come in time.
“We did well and on another luckier day Leon Barnett scores and also having seen it again we should have had a penalty for handball.
“Wigan are one of the sides who are going to challenge this season, I don’t like losing but today I’m content with our performance."
