Northampton Town manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was a very happy man as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 3-1 home win over Portsmouth.
“I’m very pleased with the result,” he said.
“ We took our chances and the first goal was really well worked.
“In the second half we started a bit sloppy, the intensity wasn’t there and Portsmouth came back into it.
“You learn about your team in certain situations and when Portsmouth did score we didn’t crumble, we steadied the ship and the third goal was then really important."
On the injury to Shaun McWilliams, Hasselbaink added:
“I haven’t spoken to the physio yet and I don’t know exactly what it is but it doesn’t look good.”
