JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK WANTS TO SEE PLENTY OF SMILING FACES

New Cobblers boss keen for players to enjoy their work

New Northampton Town manager admits that while he is 'honoured, proud and excited' to be at Sixfields, there is a lot of hard work ahead.

Hasselbaink will take charge of the Cobblers for the first time on Saturday when Doncaster Rovers visit Sixfields (tickets via ntfcdirect.co.uk) and he says it is important to see a lot of smiling faces and that the players enjoy their work.

“I’m very excited to be here but there is a lot of hard work to be done," he said.

“I think I can bring a lot of energy and it’s very important that the people around me enjoy the journey and that they are smiling.

“We had a good training session on Tuesday and it was good to be around the players and feel their energy.

“I am reassured that we are in this together and that we are going to go on this journey as a unit.

“There is no better job in the world than being a footballer and when you enjoy what you do you can get so much more out of someone.”
