The Cobblers boss looks back on Saturday's win at Gillingham

21 October 2017

Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was a very happy man as he reflected on Saturday’s 2-1 away win at Gillingham.

“It was very important we got the three points and we got stronger as the game went on,” he said.

“We should have won on Tuesday but after that to come here and get the three points is massive for us.

“Matt Grimes rose to the occasion, it was a great free-kick and we need individuals like that.

“Daniel Powell was excellent, he does so much work for the team and that’s why he’s been playing.

“Hopefully the goal will boost his confidence, he needs to believe a little bit more in himself and we need to keep on working on that.

“I hope this week has been a turning point for us but it’s important we keep our feet on the ground.

“Four points from two away games is very good and we’ve got a free week now where we can work on a few more things in training.

“The fans travelled in their numbers again today and we really appreciate all their support.”
