JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK PRAISES HIS PLAYERS AFTER SECOND SUCCESSIVE VICTORY

The Cobblers boss looks back on Saturday's win over Blackpool

28 October 2017

Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praised his players as he reflected on Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Blackpool.

“It was a magnificent team performance,” he said.

“We could have done better with the ball at certain stages of the game today but as a team performance it was very good, we were organised and we didn’t give too many chances away.

“We could have scored another goal or two but we are making steps forward and I’m pleased with that. We need to grow in confidence with the ball but that will come.

“The centre halves and Shaun McWilliams were magnificent and Daniel Powell did an amazing job again. He is an introvert and at times it doesn’t look like he believes in himself and we need to get that out of him because with the attributes he has he is a machine and we feel he can be so much more important for us.

“It was a very important moment for Sam Hoskins to get the goal, he has worked ever so hard to get back to this point, he’s still not one hundred per cent there in terms of match fitness but he is getting there and the goal will really boost his confidence."

On Marc Richards making his 200th appearance for the club, Hasselbaink added:

“Marc has been an important figure for this club and it’s a great achievement. The supporters recognise what he does for the team and he always gives one hundred per cent.”
