Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was pleased with the performance as he looked back on Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup first round tie at home to Scunthorpe United.
The game ended goalless, setting up a replay between the two sides at Glanford Park.
“We can be proud of the performance,” he said.
“I wanted to win because I didn’t want an extra game but I thought we did well.
“Scunthorpe are a good side with good players and we more than matched them today.
“They closed the game off a bit in the second half, and losing John-Joe O'Toole was a blow because he was a focal point for us. I’m not sure what exactly the problem is but we will have to look at that.
“We wanted to get through today but we are in the hat with Scunthorpe and we look forward to the draw on Monday.”
