Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink felt his side needed to score when they were on top as he looked back on Saturday’s home game against Scunthorpe United.
“It was a game of two halves,” he said.
“We didn’t start well in the first ten minutes but after that we came into it and we were the better side.
“We created some good chances but when you are on top and in our position you need to score to relieve the pressure and we didn’t do that.
“The way we started the second half was really disappointing, we were too far off Scunthorpe and it was the same at the start of the first half as well so I need to look at that.
“Scunthorpe are a very good side and they deserve to be up there in the league but we lost the game instead of them winning it. It was our mistakes that lead to their goals, forget about the decisions from the referee we didn’t defend right.”
