COBBLERS BOSS MAY MAKE MINOR FA CUP CHANGES WITH CROOKS PROGRESSING WELL

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with some team news ahead of Saturday's Emirates FA Cup tie

1 November 2017

Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is considering making minor changes to his side for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup first round tie against Scunthorpe United at Sixfields.

"The changes won’t be dramatic but there might be one or two,” he said.

“I love the FA Cup but we have had a lot of games in the last two months and I need to look at the squad and individuals to see who needs a game and who is maybe carrying a knock and needs a rest."

Hasselbaink also provided an injury update on Matt Crooks (knee) and Leon Barnett (Achilles).

"Matt is back training with the group this week and he is coming along well. We will see how he reacts to that but hopefully we can start to build him up now.

“Leon saw the doctor on Monday and he gave him the green light to come out of the boot.

"He’s been working on his strength and if that goes well he will be back out on the grass next week.”
