Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is closely monitoring Joe Iaciofano’s loan at Chesham United and has spoken this week about his progress and where the young striker can still look to improve his all-round game.
“Joe is doing amazingly well at Chesham and he is in the right place at the moment,” he said.
“We’ve stepped things up for him and he’s taking it on. He still trains with us during the week and we see him every day.
“His end goal is to be scoring for Northampton Town but for now he is doing well at Chesham and it’s good to see a smile on his face.
“He is the type of player that if you provide him chances he knows where the back of the net is but he needs to improve his overall play significantly and that’s why we have sent him out on loan.
“If you are a very dominant team and you have 90% of possession and play the majority of the game in the final third then he’s your man but if you aren't so dominant you need a player who can do the other parts of the game very well too.
"That is where he needs to improve but he is young, he has plenty of time for that to come and he understands that, but he is doing very well.”
