We are only at the end of November, but Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is planning ahead for the January transfer window.
“We need to bring players in - that is obvious - but the squad is already quite big and I don’t want too many players,” he said.
“I want a tight group, and so with that in mind we will see players go and there will be players made available.
“I wouldn’t be doing my job properly if I didn’t have targets already and even when January finishes you are already looking ahead at the summer.
“January is a very difficult month to get the right players and I don’t want to bring in just any player, it will have to be someone who can improve us and help take us forward.
“Any player we sign has to bring something to the club and also be an asset moving forwards.”
