Northampton Town Football Club are holding a Post 16 Girls Sport/Football Development and full-time Education programmes Open Evening on Tuesday 28th November at 6pm and 6.45pm in the Cave & Sons Boardroom at Sixfields.
Northampton Town are proud to be the only club in the county that currently offer a BTEC Level 3 Sport programmes for female footballers. As the club moves into the second year of the programme in September 2018, we are looking to recruit players who want to continue to develop their footballing ability alongside other like-minded young women, while obtaining a high quality qualification that will enable them to progress on to university or in to jobs in the sports industry and benefit from the standard of coaching that you would expect at a professional football club.
Our Female Football and Education Programme team will play Wednesday fixtures in the English College League or the National Youth Football League and all players would still be eligible and encouraged to play for their local weekend grassroots team.
This is a small bespoke programme that is only targeting 15 – 20 girls across two year groups, in order to ensure that we are able to offer each young person the maximum amount of support both academically and on the playing field, in order to maximise their potential.
This course has been a great success this year so far, the young women currently on our programme are targeting US Soccer Scholarships, University places and jobs within the club and the wider sports industry on completion of the programme. We feel that we are uniquely placed to support them with these aspirations.
