Cobblers boss in talks over defender's international commitments
Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh says he hopes to agree a contract with Gabriel Zakuani in the near future.
The club have offered the defender a contract, subject to reaching an agreement on his international commitments with DR Congo.
“Talks are ongoing with Gaby and I don’t think we are too far away,” Edinburgh said.
“The international situation with Gaby is a big thing for me but hopefully we will come to an agreement.
“We want to get the agreement right and if we can get the commitment from Gaby hopefully a deal will be concluded."
The Cobblers boss also said he was delighted to be retaining the services of Matt Taylor.
“Matt is staying and for me that is a no brainer.
“He’s played nearly every minute of every game for me and his goals and assists have been a vital part of the club retaining League 1 status.
“He’s an unbelievable professional and he still wants to push himself.
“He’s not missed a day’s training and he is a fantastic influence around the football club.
“To get him for another year is fantastic and I look forward to continuing to work with him.”
