Trio show amount of young talent coming through the Academy

10 May 2017

The impressive form of Shaun McWilliams and the recent professional contracts signed by Joe Iaciofano and James Goff highlight the quality of player coming through the Northampton Town Academy.

Shaun McWilliams may have grabbed the headlines following some impressive end of season performances in the first team, but he is far from the only talented youngster to emerge from the Northampton Town Academy this season.

After spending the majority of the season on loan at King's Lynn, McWilliams returned to Sixfields for the last month of the campaign, and highlighted his potential with an impressive showing in the final match of the season against Gillingham.

Joe Iaciofano has enjoyed a goal laden season for the under 18s, and he brought the curtain down on the season with a brace in their 3-0 win over Yeovil Town last weekend. He too has spent some time away from Sixfields, enjoying a productive work experience spell with Corby Town. Iaciofano signed his first professional contact at the end of the season.

Another Academy product to sign a professional contract is goalkeeper James Goff. Goff spent most of the season on loan with Sileby Rangers, making a huge impression.

With these players following in the footsteps of the likes of Ivan Toney, Michael Jacobs, Luke Chambers and Mark Bunn in recent seasons, we take a look in the video below at the work of the Northampton Town Academy and its growing reputation.
