JUSTIN EDINBURGH PRAISES INTENSITY OF SIDE AFTER BEATING CHARLTON

The views of the Cobblers boss on Northampton Town 2 Charlton Athletic 1

Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh praised his players as he reflected on Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Charlton.

“It was a great performance and a great result, with the only slight downside the injury to Gaby Zakuani,” he said.

“That doesn’t look great right now but we won’t know more until we’ve had it scanned.

“We were bitterly disappointed after the game on Tuesday but credit to the players we got back to the right intensity and the right level of competitiveness today.

“There were a lot of really strong performances throughout the team and I felt we controlled the game in the second half.

“I’m really pleased for Aaron Phillips, when a player isn’t in the team they have to wait for their opportunity, he’s done that and he certainly made an impact.”
