DAVID KERSLAKE - 'WE STILL HAVE WORK TO DO'

23 March 2017

Cobblers assistant boss looking forward to a special Sixfields atmosphere on Saturday

Cobblers assistant David Kerslake is looking forward to Saturday’s home game against Oxford United, and says there is still work to be done.

“It’s a huge game for us and until we are mathematically safe we still need the points on the board,” he said.

“I think it’s vital we pick up at least another win and a draw to see us safe and the sooner we can do that the better.

“The players are fully focused and nobody is going to rest on their laurels. Everyone wants to keep improving and move the club forward.

“We’ve got some big games to come here and it will be nice to have the ground full and the supporters buzzing.

“Oxford are a really good side and we don’t expect them to come here and sit back. They will come at us and we have to be ready.

“Every game is important but we know that Saturday will probably have a bit of extra spice. Hopefully that will make our supporters even more vocal and it should be a good one to watch.

“Since Justin and I have been here the players have given us everything and the players have shown that they are more than capable of performing in any arena.

“If we keep showing the will to win that we have done then we will be okay. The main objective for us is to get ourselves safe and then we can start planning for next season.”
