CHAIRMAN HAPPY WITH SUMMER RECRUITMENT SO FAR

Kelvin Thomas on the work to strengthen the squad

1 June 2017

Chairman Kelvin Thomas says the club are very comfortable with where they are in terms of the ongoing summer recruitment.

Justin Edinburgh has already added a handful of new faces to the squad this summer, with talks ongoing with other targets, while a number of fellow League 1 clubs have spoken of their frustration of how signing players can be a lengthy process at this time of year.

"We are really comfortable with where we are," said Kelvin Thomas.

"We have come to the end of May now but May is often a tough month. We all want our business done early, but in reality it is an ongoing process. It is also the first time the players have had a break for 10 months so some are away on holiday and that can delay matters.

"Pre-season is 4 to 5 weeks away and the first match of the season is around 10 weeks away and there is a lot of talking going on behind the scenes. Justin Edinburgh, Andy Melville and James Whiting are working very hard and we are looking forward to an exciting pre-season.

"With the players we have signed so far this summer, the level of season ticket sales and the recent weekend of community football we hosted, I would say we are a club in excellent shape at the moment."
