FITNESS LEVELS PLEASE EDINBURGH

Cobblers boss pleased with Saturday's workout at Sileby

10 July 2017

With the squad now at their training camp in Spain, boss Justin Edinburgh looked back on Saturday’s game at Sileby and expressed his delight at the fitness levels of his players.

“I was really pleased with the work out and I thought our fitness levels looked good,” he said.

“It was a good crowd and most importantly for me we came through the game with no injuries.

“We had a good flexibility about us and we moved the ball well. We were a threat and we had a mix to our game which we perhaps didn’t have last year.

“We got some good minutes into the players on Saturday and we will look to build on that in the next few weeks.

“It was a promising start but we know that there is still a lot of hard work to be done."

New signings Regan Poole, Ash Taylor and Yaser Kasim didn’t feature at Fernie Fields on Saturday but all three have travelled with the rest of the squad to the Oliva Nova complex.

“We didn’t feel there was any need to play them on Saturday because we wanted a few more days to bring them upto speed," he said.

“They are here with us in Spain and we will up the intensity accordingly.

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to have this trip and I think it’s very important to get the whole group together for a good period of time.

“The facilities here are fantastic and we are really looking forward to getting some good work into the players over the next few days.”
