Northampton Town's youth team took on AFC Rushden & Diamonds at Moulton College on Thursday night in the 2nd round of the Northamptonshire FA's Under 18s Dave Joyce Cup.The Cobblers, who fielded a side mainly made up of under 16 players, won the game 3-0 with goals from James Gillard (2) and Vaughn Marett.
"It was a really pleasing performance," said Professional Phase Development Coach Mark Lyons.
"I was happy so many under 16 players got some game time and they showed some really positive signs for next season and beyond."
