Latest EFL Youth Alliance action
The Northampton Town under 18s welcomed Cambridge United to Moulton College on Saturday morning in their latest EFL Youth Alliance action.
The game ended 2-2 with the Cobblers coming from 2-1 down to secure a draw. Lewis Irwin scored the Cobblers equaliser after an own goal had put Mark Lyons' side in front early on.
“It was a really pleasing performance from such a young squad,” said the Cobblers Professional Development Phase Coach.
“We looked a threat going forward and it was good play from us to force the own goal.
“We rode our luck at times in the second half but we could have won it late on and the boys showed good character again to come from behind.”
