ROB PAGE TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITY AFTER ROVERS LOSS

7 January 2017

Rob Page reflects on Bristol Rovers 5 Northampton Town 0

Cobblers boss Rob Page said sorry to the travelling supporters as he reflected on Saturday’s 5-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers.

“I have to apologise to the supporters, they didn’t deserve that today,” he said.

“It was painful watching and that level of performance is not acceptable. I take full responsibility.

“I’ve watched the first part of the game again and it wasn't acceptable.

“The goals we gave away were embarrassing and we have let the supporters and the football club down today.

“We are missing some big players but I’m not going to even begin to make excuses for the performance.

“The only positive I can see is Hiram Boating’s performance and he didn’t deserve that today either.

“I feel for the supporters, we are in a difficult position at the minute and we have got to go and put it right.

“Football managers are always under pressure, it’s a results based business but I’m confident we can turn it around.

“I’m not a quitter and my focus now is on picking the players up for Scunthorpe.

“We will work hard to try and bring players in, it’s proving a hard window but we will keep at it.”
