ROB PAGE - 'WE NEED TO GET AT BRISTOL AND BOUNCE BACK'

Rob Page previews Bristol Rovers v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Rob Page is looking to lift the spirits and confidence of his Northampton Town squad as he previews Saturday’s trip to Bristol Rovers.

“Monday took the wind out of our sails a little bit and it’s now my job to get the players right and get the confidence up going into the weekend," he said.

“We can’t sulk and we need to be positive. We had been building momentum from the wins at Port Vale and Oxford and even the performance for 88 minutes at Sheffield United and that’s what we need to get back to.

“Bristol Rovers have done okay and I think they’ve settled into the season. They are on the back of a heavy defeat so they will be looking to put that right but we can only focus on what we do.

“We need to get at them and we are looking to bounce back from our defeat.

“I was bitterly disappointed with our second half performance on Monday, our ball retention wasn’t good enough and I can totally understand the frustration of the fans.

“The stats from the game showed it was the hardest we’ve worked in any game this season without the ball but I’d forsake that for work rate without the ball and to do better with it.

“Having senior players in the team we have maybe got to manage that a little bit better when we have games in quick succession, it did catch up with them and that’s where the second goal came from.”
