RICHARDS - 'SENIOR PLAYERS WILL HELP DRIVE US ON'

Skipper says squad are preparing well for Saturday's game

Captain Marc Richards has stressed it is the responsibility of the senior players in the group to ensure the Cobblers squad is well prepared for Saturday's visit from Scunthorpe United.

“Whoever the new manager is they will come in with their own ideas but until then I’m sure there is enough experience in the group here to channel everybody’s thoughts into a positive performance on Saturday," he said.

“It will be a really tough test for us against Scunthorpe but in a way it’s a no pressure game.

“We are probably not expected to win but we’ve worked hard in training all week and we will go into the game fully focussed on trying to get the three points.

“We need to go into it in a positive frame of mind and whoever plays I think we just need to unleash the shackles and let the players express themselves.

“The fans have really stuck with us and hopefully they will continue to do so.

“We need to all stick together and hopefully the fans will keep the faith.

“We are working hard and I’m sure a new face will bring a spark back to the club."
