Justin Edinburgh made two changes to the side for his first home game in charge, Keshi Anderson and Luke Williams replacing Alex Revell (calf) and Harry Beautyman who dropped to the bench. Williams went straight into the side after joining on loan from Scunthorpe while Crystal Palace loanee Anderson made his home debut.

After a quiet opening referee Lee Probert was forced to call a brief stop to proceedings when a number of flares were thrown onto the pitch by Coventry supporters.

When play resumed the Sky Blues were soon reduced to ten men, Jordan Willis shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on David Buchanan.

As the Cobblers started to intensify their play, Boateng was denied by a challenge from Ben Stevenson while Marc Richards had a shot deflect just wide.

The players were forced to leave the field after some more trouble from the Coventry fans, looking to protest against their owners. The fans who came onto the field were arrested and play continued following a delay of around six minutes.

Nine minutes were added onto the end of the first half but despite some more Cobblers pressure the score remained goalless at the break.

The Cobblers took the lead on 53 minutes, Keshi Anderson with a low finish after being played in by Marc Richards. Luke Williams was also involved in the build-up, breaking up play in midfield.

Berge tipped over a shot from Anderson following another enforced delay after more objects were thrown onto the field by the away supporters.

Keshi Anderson doubled the Cobblers lead with another smart finish, Zander Diamond cutting the ball back from a Matt Taylor corner.

Marc Richards nearly made it 3-0 almost immediately, Berge making a fine save.

Anderson completed his hat-trick on 76 minutes, Hiram Boateng providing the cut-back for the home debutant to fire home. The loanee striker then left the field to a standing ovation, Gregg Wylde coming on.

Following another enforced break in play the fit again Paul Anderson came on for the closing stages, Hiram Boateng the player to make way. Harry Beautyman then came on in the Cobblers final change, replacing Luke Williams.

The final few minutes thankfully passed without incident as the Cobblers closed out a 3-0 victory to return to winning ways.
