Cobblers caretaker boss Paul Wilkinson will be without defenders Gabriel Zakuani, Brendan Moloney and Aaron Phillips for this Saturday’s home game against promotion chasing Scunthorpe United.

Zakuani is currently away with DR Congo at the African Cup of Nations while Moloney (knee) is still a few weeks away from a return.

Aaron Phillips (hamstring) is also absent while Paul Anderson is missing after receiving a gash to his leg last Saturday, meaning new signing Neal Eardley could be set for his debut.

Lewin Nyatanga is fit and available for selection after missing the game at Bristol Rovers due to illness.

Loanee midfielder Hiram Boateng could meanwhile make his home debut after impressing last weekend.

JJ Hooper has however returned to Port Vale at the end of his loan spell.
