DAVID KERSLAKE APPOINTED AS JUSTIN EDINBURGH'S NUMBER 2 AS NEW MANAGER MAKES STAFF CHANGES

15 January 2017

Paul Wilkinson, Paddy Kenny and John Harbin leave the club

New Northampton Town manager Justin Edinburgh has made his first appointment to his backroom staff, by bringing in former Nottingham Forest, Watford and Cardiff City coach and assistant manager David Kerslake as his number two.

This will be Kerslake's second spell at Sixfields, as he was assistant manager during Colin Calderwood's successful spell when he helped guide the Cobblers to promotion in 2006.

As a player, Kerslake represented QPR, Swindon Town, Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Ipswich Town while he has since become a very respected coach, with his coaching career including spells with Forest, Watford, Cardiff and Gillingham.

As a result of this and further changes to come Paul Wilkinson, Paddy Kenny and John Harbin will leave the club with immediate effect.

Chairman Kelvin Thomas said, "We certainly appreciate the job that Paul, Paddy and John did preparing the team and guiding them through the Scunthorpe game in difficult circumstances. They conducted themselves very professionally this week and I have nothing but praise for them. We thank them all for their work this season and wish them every success for the future."
