JUSTIN EDINBURGH HAS MIXED FEELINGS AFTER WALSALL LOSS

4 February 2017

The Cobblers boss reflects on Walsall 2 Northampton Town 1

Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh felt his side deserved more from Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Walsall.

“I’m bitterly disappointed that we haven’t taken anything from the game,” he said.

“I felt our performance deserved something and on another day we come away with a point at the very least.

“Marc Richards is disappointed but I'll never criticise anyone for taking a penalty. He was bave enough to do it, these things happen and I’m sure he will be a match winner for us again before the end of the season.

“There was spirit and effort, the dressing room is low right now but it’s my job to pick the players up again.

“We don’t want to be a hard luck team, we need to be getting what we deserve and that’s something we need to turn around. We need to perhaps show a better mentality at times.

“There were some good signs again today, there is a real togetherness within the group and I’ve definitely seen enough that we will be okay.”
