JUSTIN EDINBURGH DELIGHTED WITH WIN OVER CHESTERFIELD BUT TARGETS FURTHER IMPROVEMENT

The Cobblers boss reflects on Northampton Town 3 Chesterfield 1

Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh was delighted with the result as he reflected on Saturday’s 3-1 home win over Chesterfield.

“It’s a huge three points and I’m really pleased,” he said.

“It was efficient rather than spectacular, I thought we played really well in the first half and then just dropped off a bit in the second.

“John-Joe O'Toole has the knack of being in the right place at the right time and I’m pleased for Marc Richards to get his goal. Michael Smith was a threat and it looked like there is a good partnership developing there.

“We dropped our standards a little bit in the second half and we need to try and maintain the standards we set in the first half for 90 minutes.

“That will come the fitter we get and the more the team plays together we will keep improving. We’ve got another important game on Tuesday night and we quickly turn our focus on to Swindon.”
