The Cobblers boss reflects on Southend United 2 Northampton Town 2

Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh was a happy man as he reflected on Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Southend.

“It’s a fantastic point and I think it shows how far we’ve come,” he said.

“I thought we shaded it first half with the ball and then we defended really well in the second.

“The players put their bodies on the line and I think this is the best point we’ve gained since I took charge.

“It was a really good performance today, the players gave everything and it’s a really good point at a really tough place to come to.

“We showed resilience and togetherness and if we play like that we will be tough opposition for anyone.

“It’s nice to get to 40 points and it gives us a bit of breathing space but we are not taking anything for granted.”
