CHRIS LONG WILL BE FIT FOR OLDHAM TRIP

Cobblers striker declared fit for Saturday

5 December 2017

Chris Long (ankle) has been passed fit for Saturday’s trip to Oldham while Matt Grimes returns from suspension.

However, a late decision will be made on the fitness of John-Joe O’Toole who remains a doubt.

“Chris will be fine,” confirmed boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

"He turned his ankle last Saturday and we took him off as a precaution but he will be fine for this weekend.

“We are working extremely hard behind the scenes to get everybody fit. We need that competition for places and everybody fighting for their place.

“Saturday might be a little bit too early for John-Joe. He is back running and we are monitoring him day to day.

“He has bone bruising on his ankle and it’s just how much pain he can take. We know he can take a lot of pain so you never know he might say he feels fine and if he does then he will be able to play. We will wait and see.

“Alex Revell has had the all clear and he is back running and Aaron Phillips is back training. We are still managing his workload but he is back with the group.”
