Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has admitted his team are low on confidence and will need the support of the Sixfields crowd in the New Years Day clash with league leaders Wigan Athletic.
“The players need a lift and the crowd will be a big help with that,” he said.
“Confidence is fragile but it’s better for us at home at the moment and we are going to give it a real go.
“We need to keep working hard and doing the right things. Not much is going for us at the moment and we need to get the players confidence back up.
“We have plans for January but Wigan is our only focus at the moment. We need to try and put some more points on the board and then what happens after that happens after that.
“It’s a very important match, it won’t be easy but we will give it our all to try and get a good result."
