JUSTIN EDINBURGH DISAPPOINTED BY LOSS AT SHREWSBURY TOWN

The Cobblers boss reflects on the opening match of the season

5 August 2017

Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh was disappointed as he reflected on the opening day defeat at Shrewsbury. 0-0 going into injury time, Lenell John-Lewis’s goal in the 92nd minute proved decisive for the home side.

“I thought we were value for a point but unfortunately we weren’t able to see it through,” he said.

“Defensively I thought we were good but we weren’t at our best with the ball and there is work to be done there.

“We conceded possession far too easily and that eventually is probably what cost us the game.

“Both defences were on top and we should have come away with a clean sheet and a point.

“I felt we should have had a penalty for the foul on Chris Long and for me that was a poor decision.

“It’s a hard one to take today but we have to take it and move on.”
