JUSTIN EDINBURGH PLEASED WITH LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE AT LOFTUS ROAD

The Cobblers boss reflects on Tuesday night's Carabao Cup tie at QP

Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh praised the performance of his team as he reflected on the narrow Carabao Cup defeat at QPR on Tuesday night.

“I was delighted with the performance, we played at a real high intensity and the players gave everything,” he said.

“It was a big lift in our performance with the ball from Saturday and I certainly got everything I asked for tonight. We looked a threat going forward and that’s something we didn’t have on Saturday.

“I’ve got no complaints with the sending off but again I felt we should have had a penalty late on, it was a great run from Billy Waters and to me it looked like a clear push.

“It wasn’t given but what I have had from the players tonight is a response, we had some real fluidity in our play, everyone wanted to get on the ball and we played with energy and caused a good Championship side some real problems.

“We need to replicate this performance on Saturday and going forward, we need to show that bravery and intensity with the ball and again tonight defensively we showed real resilience.”
