LONG CONFIDENT OF FITNESS BUT PHILLIPS SET TO MISS POSH CLASH

Justin Edinburgh also provides an update on John-Joe O'Toole

Aaron Phillips (thigh) is set to miss Saturday’s home game against Peterborough United but Chris Long (pictured) could be available again after being pulled out of the warm-up ahead of last Saturday’s trip to Charlton.

“It looks like Aaron is going to be out for a few weeks,” confirmed boss Justin Edinburgh.

“He went for a scan on Tuesday and he is still in a bit of discomfort at the moment.

“Chris Long felt tight in the warm-up at Charlton so we made the decision to pull him out. We are pretty sure we caught that at the right time and all being well this week he will be in the squad for Saturday.”

Edinburgh has also provided an update on John-Joe O’Toole’s niggling groin injury.

“John-Joe has had an injection and we are really hopeful that this will cure the problem that he’s had. We should hopefully know more later this week and if he is able to step up his training then it shouldn’t be too long before we see him playing again.

“If this doesn’t fix it then we may have to look at surgery and that would be a big blow but hopefully the injection will have done the trick.

“We’ve kept him in good condition and if this injection has fixed the problem then we are confident that we will be able to have him available pretty soon.”
