MIXED FEELINGS FOR JUSTIN EDINBURGH AFTER POINT INCHES COBBLERS CLOSER TO SAFETY

17 April 2017

Justin Edinburgh reacts to Northampton Town 1 Shrewsbury Town 1

Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh had mixed feelings as he reflected on Monday’s 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury, a result that inches the Cobblers closer to mathematical safety in League 1.

“We worked hard and we were competitive but our quality in possession wasn’t where we want it to be,” he said.

“We didn’t really settle, there was a tinge of nervousness in our play and credit to Shrewsbury they pressed us hard without really hurting us.

“The back four were good but we couldn’t really get a foot hold in the middle of the park.

“Rico's goal was well worked but we didn’t really kick on after that and our passing and possession let us down.

“I’m not convinced with either red card and I felt the referee got conned a little bit.

“They are two big players missing for us and we will obviously have to go to Bury now with a bit of a changed side.”
