Luke Williams (hamstring) is set to return to the Cobblers squad for Saturday’s home game against Sheffield United while Alex Revell (calf) could also be included.

“Luke will be fit for Saturday and Alex will come back into the squad if this week ends as planned,” said boss Justin Edinburgh.

“Rochdale just came a bit too soon for Luke and we just wanted to make sure he had another week’s training under his belt."

Edinburgh also provided an update on John-Joe O’Toole’s groin strain.

“With John-Joe it’s something that won’t clear up between now and the end of the season,” he said.

“It’s something we need to manage and we just need to try and keep him as fresh as possible for the games we’ve got coming up.

“I don’t think it will require surgery, it may do but we are hopeful that it doesn’t.

“We felt a couple of weeks rest might have sorted it but it didn’t clear up to the full extent that we’d hoped.”
