UNDER 18S EDGED OUT OF CUP BY AFC BOURNEMOUTH

21 October 2016

EFL Youth Alliance Cup action

The Northampton Town under 18s travelled to AFC Bournemouth on Friday in the third round of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup.

The Cobblers were edged out 1-0 by their Premier League opponents, but Lead Professional Development Phase Coach Mark Lyons felt there was much to be pleased about in the display.

"We turned in an improved team performance," he said.

"We were much more disciplined in our play and there were definite signs of progress, we completed well but just lacked a cutting edge in front of goal.

"We conceded after an individual error and that was tough on the boys, but overall we can be pleased with our performance."

The club would like to send our best wishes to youth team centre back Prudence Anaele who was stretchered off during the game and taken to hospital. We wish Prudence well for a speedy recovery.
