Midfielder Jak McCourt is set to miss the Cobblers trip to Gillingham.

“He’s had x-rays and scans and nothing is broken,” confirmed boss Rob Page.

“We think it could be nerve damage which probably rules him out this weekend but fingers crossed he will be back for Peterborough.

“With nerve damage it is difficult to put a timescale on it but we will just have to see how it settles down over the next few days.

“I had a good conversation with Jak this week about how he’s done so far and we both agreed that he can still get better. He has got to learn from certain aspects of his game but there is more to come from him which is encouraging.

“Being physical is a big part of his game and we don’t want that to change but you have got to be clever with it as well.

“We have been pleased with him and he will be a big loss to the team on Saturday but we’ve got a squad that is big enough now to cope.

“John-Joe O'Toole is an option as well as a couple of others so we will look at that and make the right decision.”

Kenji Gorre will rejoin the squad having completed his midweek international while Gabriel Zakuani is away with DR Congo.
