Page leaves Port Vale after compensation package agreed

Northampton Town are pleased to confirm the appointment of former Sheffield United, Watford and Wales defender Robert Page as the club's new manager.
After a compensation package was agreed, Page joins the club from Port Vale where he was appointed first team manager in September 2014 after spells as youth team coach, assistant manager and caretaker manager.
Possessing a growing reputation as a highly rated young manager, Page took Port Vale from second from bottom when he was appointed to a final finishing position of 12th in the 2015/16 season.
Known as an excellent man manager who looks to play attacking, possession based football, Page, who was recently linked with the manager's position at Cardiff City, has signed a 3 year contract at Sixfields.
Chairman Kelvin Thomas was delighted with the appointment.
"We have undertaken a professional, detailed and thorough selection process and we are pleased to have recruited an outstanding young manager like Rob," he said.
"After an excellent playing career at all levels, Rob is an energetic, young, and ambitious manager, but someone who has also managed nearly 100 games in League 1.  He knows what the level is all about and that was important to us in our search.
"We were looking for a manager to come in and continue the good work that has been going on and Rob will be able to apply his League 1 experience to build on the foundations that have been laid here with this group of players.
"He is very highly regarded and I am looking forward to working with him to take Northampton Town Football Club forward as we prepare for an exciting year in League 1."
Joining Rob will be John Harbin who will be taking up the role of  Performance Coach and further backroom additions will be announced in due course.
