Cobblers helping search for a match for local 2 year old

A number of the Northampton Town squad joined the Anthony Nolan register on Thursday to show their support for 2 year old Joey Ziadi.

At 6 months old, Joey was diagnosed with an incredibly rare blood disorder, known as Diamond Blackfan Anemia after months of symptoms. Doctors first considered the condition just too rare, as there have only ever been 125 cases in the UK and just 800 in the world.

The race is now on to find Joey a match. Joey is now 2 years old and the most amazing little boy, from birth he has been constantly in and out hospital, but with your help he could live a normal, happy life. Joey is in need of a bone marrow transplant and as it stands, there is no match but that match could be you!

It is a very simple spit test you would need to do find out if you are a match. You order a spit test kit online, which is then sent to your home.

To sign up, please visit www.findjoeyamatch.com/register - then just simply follow the instructions to order the kit. Once you get the kit, again follow the instructions and send it back, your details are then placed on  the national register to be a life saver.

Then hopefully Kaisha, Joey's mom, will receive the phone call she's been waiting for - that a match has been found for her little boy.

Good luck Joey from us all at Sixfields.
