MELVILLE HERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Head of Recruitment working hard in a crucial time of the year

Head of Recruitment Andy Melville is looking to lend a helping hand at Northampton Town and says his relationship with Rob Page means they can hit the ground running.

“I’ve come in to help with the recruitment,” he said in a Cobblers PlayerHD interview.

“Hopefully I can lend a helping hand to Rob in identifying players and just generally be on hand to the coaching staff.

“In my five years at Oxford I was heavily involved in recruitment and you get to know the players in the lower leagues.

“Between myself and Rob there isn’t one club where we haven’t got a contact and that definitely makes things a lot easier.

“Rob and I had an 18 month period where we played alongside each other for Wales; we had a good understanding on the pitch and so far so good off it."

While many players are currently away on holiday, Melville says this is a crucial time of the year.

“The season doesn’t stop for us and we are working hard behind the scenes," he said.

“It’s pretty quiet at the minute but hopefully in the coming weeks we will have some new signings to announce.

“The players here have done a tremendous job so we are only looking to fine tune it and we are working towards that now.

“We are very busy setting up meetings with players and agents and things are moving forward.”
