CHAIRMAN BELIEVES ROB PAGE'S LEAGUE 1 EXPERIENCE WILL HELP

23 May 2016

Kelvin Thomas on Northampton Town's new manager

Chairman Kelvin Thomas says that Rob Page's experience of League One - he managed Port Vale for nearly 100 games at that level - will hopefully help the Cobblers prepare for life in the third tier.

“Chris Wilder is going to be a tough act to follow but we are a solid football club and I’m sure we will take it in our stride," he said.

“Going into League One we were going into the unknown a little bit anyway but we will have a go and I’m sure we will be competitive.

“We have got something good going here and we think it’s something people should believe in.

“Rob took a team from second bottom to safety and then to 12th last season and what we are looking for is progression.

“The players here are contracted and Chris knows more than anybody that if anyone is going to leave then it will have to be for a significant price.

“We are not going to sell anyone cheaply and we don’t need to.”
